Living room and computer room

So went to the flea market on Sunday and found my chairs. It wasn't an Eames chair, but it had a cool modern look that I wanted. Also, an Eames chair, even a used and old one, cost almost a 100 bucks. I just had to get something more affordable, and having two for 40 bucks, I just had to get it. So overall, I'm happy with the living room. As you can see the look I have is more vintage, mid-century modern.

Chair and sofa I got this at Macys. Lamps from Cost Plus World Market, and rug from Overstock.

The chairs really helped fill out the space.

The artwork that Dan and I made, hence the logo I used for this blog

And the sheer curtains. It's not noticeable in this picture, but it matches the chair and just blends more to the room. I decided to have the stand out pattern be the rug.

Another huge reason I went with these chairs. They can also be used at our table for extra chairs! Don't you love it?!
The computer room/extra bedroom for all our guests who will be coming to visit us! We made it the fun room, hence the funky pillows and the funky artwork.

Dan, working hard on the computer. That's my man!

Dan's collection of cds and records. Had to put up Death Cab for Cutie poster and the artwork I did on the side when I was in school.

Artwork from Michael Sieben that I got in Fecal Face shop. Pillows are from Bed, bath and beyond, bought from my lovely cousin. I hope you guys enjoy our apartment as much as we do!

The search for an Eames Chair!

Charles Eames, a designer I worship. Everyone knows who Charles Eames is because of his classic designs.

Every designer knows his classic chairs. I have always been in a search for having his chair. I can never afford it. I'm always looking for the best deal with a remarkable price! That's why I always make that the first search when I go to a flea market. Tomorrow I'm going to Alameda flea market, in hopes that I would find my chair. Oh please, if I could find an Eames chair for less the 80 bucks, I'm a happy camper!! I know it's nearly impossible because every designer, shopper, buyer knows how classic an Eames chair is. In every interior design magazine you see, the best classic modern interior has an Eames chair in their room.

Also, a really cool looking white vase. So, wish me luck!

Curtains

Curtains, a great home decor that could play a back drop of a living room. Well, that is going to be what I plan to do. The pictures above shows how a curtain can multi-task. It could play as your window treatments and a back drop to your sofa, like a wallpaper. When playing the space of the living room, I really wanted my light green sofa to pop out. I thought if I researched on curtains, I could find the perfect one.

Same space plan as my living room, and again, playing that back drop art to really make the sofa pop more. I really dig the contrast and the playfulness.

The curtains blends in because you have this amazing wallpaper on the other side. Another color combination that I love.

Another way to play with curtains. Not one of my favorites, but a nice idea. I gave it an A+ for originality.

An artwork right next to the curtain that blends to the wall.

A great color combination and the curtain played the color palette for this room.

And finally, the curtains that I might be buying over the weekend, West Elm.

This one is chevron. The color is subtle, and I like the sheer curtain panels. I don't want anything standing out too much, but I wouldn't mind having the curtains have subtle patterns, contrasting to the green sofa.

It has a retro, sophisticated look. I hope I get it!

CB2

I love this store. Yesterday, I went to Union Square and my husband and I pass by this store, CB2. A furniture store that I can relate to. They have bold colors, retro vintage flair, with a modern twist. When I walked in, I wanted to change everything in the apartment, but alas, we finally become settled, and my husband wouldn't allow to spend more on furniture. I can only dream!
Their furniture. Love the wall.

A chair that I wanted!

Furniture. Love the color of the sofa.

Same sofa in a different setting.

The clock makes bold statement

End table cart. I probably will buy this soon.

Dining table with different chairs

So, I have been super busy planning and organizing everything for the big move in Oakland. After Thanksgiving, my husband and I packed all our stuff in Long Beach and transfer it over to my parents house in Chino Hills. Oh, it was crazy. We packed as much as we can, and we still haven't finish! Last Sunday was when we had to leave to Oakland because Dan had to start work on Monday. So this entire week was dedicated to find an apartment, to get a job, and to go shopping (hehe, for my personal pleasure). So, Monday, found a place that was near the Bart and Dan's work. It's at Adams Point, Lake Merritt area. It has this old 60s retro style complex. Old building, but great price and great location. So we took it!! We made the deposit yesterday and we officially got the keys!

So of course, I already been space planning the place. Its a two bedroom apartment, with a huge kitchen to fit a dining room table. I've been searching around for design inspiration of how to make this space be eclectic, fun, and different. Because I have an eclectic collection of chairs, I decided for the space I would want different chairs around a vintage dining table.

Love the high contrast. Dark chairs with white table.

A little too much, but simple with an eclectic twist.

I love the color! I love how they are all different chairs, but having the same color really pulls it together.

Same idea, but with white. Makes it more chic!

Mix of white and black chairs with light wood table. Digging it!

I like how the color is not crazy bold. The pastel color combination works really well in this space.

Crazy contrast. Black chairs with white glossy table, and teal blue light fixture. Love it

This has definitely got the vintage atmosphere that I love. I might repaint the chairs I originally have and just make it look more distressed brown with a hint of color.

Whimsical, child like atmosphere.
