Another extravaganza event!

So, having a huge family, we always have parties, events going on. I was hanging out with my girlfriend yesterday, and she saw on facebook that I posted pictures of another family gathering party. She said "Geez April, another event...how many events you got going on?" A LOT....

The one that I'm excited about that is coming up, is my baby cousin's Birthday extravaganza at the Disney hotel. I cannot wait for this event. Maybe it's because I kind of miss Disneyland and always wanted to stay at the hotel rooms over there. Then I got excited dressing up for this event! No, I'm not going to dress like one of the disney characters and be a PRINCESS, even though that would be awesome. But I am inspired by the Disney characters to make a modern, up to date look of a Disney princess. So I thought I shared this look to my fellow friends:
Classy looking dress from Modcloth. Love this dress with the bow..I'm really into bows lately.
Anthropologie shoes. Modern day Cinderella shoes.

Statement brooch. Either on your dress, or even put it in your hair!

And of course, a cute clutch or bag. This, is what I bought today. So excited to bust this Kate Spade purse in public (sorry got a little excited and I talk pretty ghetto when I get excited).

Inspiration: 50's cocktail dresses. I love the classic look.
Modern day Cinderella. LOVE THE HEELS!

Mantel decor

So my friend recently bought a house and has some trouble decorating her mantel. How do you decorate a mantel? For me, I easily know what I like to put up, either a mirror or an artwork, but then as I researched about decorating, I stumble upon Honey and Fitz blog and her guidelines is so smart and easy. Create a visual triangle! Center a large piece of art, or mirror, and then add some decor on the mantel that makes it a visual triangle! Easy peezy!!

And, as a lighting designer, it would make the mantel more unique if you add some lights. Ideally, wall sconces framing the mirror or artwork, but you can also be unique with it.

I'm pretty excited about this. Our friend, Greg, told us about them, Creators Project, and they are a bunch of artists that use digital technology as their medium. So the group, Creators project, will be exhibiting in San Francisco, and looked amazing!! I'm all about lighting, so when I saw this, I want to see this in person!

Inspiration images

So lately I have been just focusing on doing artwork. Right now, I don't have much, but Dan and I have been going to our art studio in the city (must post later of the studio), and it has been amazing. We just spent the night at the studio during the weekend, and it reminded me back in the college days, the good times when I would hang out with fellow classmates, having lack of sleep and full of energy from thinking so much, having all this creativity in your mind and putting it on a piece of paper, a canvas, a sketchbook...I'm just blabbering right now.

So Dan, my husband taught me something when I was at the studio. I was having a creative block, and Dan has a folder on his computer called "inspiration images." I never had that, I mean I have images of certain artists, and put folders for them, and categorize it, but never had a folder that just have pictures that inspires me. Dan said he would just be looking online, or even in books, scans them, collects them, and puts it in a folder, and then, whenever he has a creative block, he would go to that folder and just flips through them, like a book. It was so inspiring, that I did that for myself. So I thought I would give you a preview of images, that inspires me. So if I don't have anything to blog, I'll just put some images that inspires me.

NEW YEAR: Hello 2012

So, I know it's been a while since I blog. Since it's the new year, I decided to post what I want to achieve this new year.

First off, lose weight. That has always been my New Year's resolution, always will be. Hopefully I'll reach my goal weight..which I will never reveal. I will admit, I don't know why, but I hope my body will shape out to be Jennifer Hudson. I love that chick. She's amazing all around, and her body is smoking.

Second, to blog more...to dedicate more time on this blog for inspiration. I have been slacking on my artwork, design, all the things I love. Even if I don't write anything, I just want to put something on this darn blog.

Third, goals for me personally, but to balance my hobby and career. Lighting design/sales have been pretty good, I've been so bless to have a stable career and a job that I enjoy, or at least content on. But I do want to focus on my second love, which is still involve with lighting, but making lighting products. I had been working on this for the past year and haven't seen any production, any prototype to show. So I plan to blog more on inspiration of lighting products and the placement of these lights on this blog: Let there be light 24/7

Lets hope this new year I can achieve these goals. Happy New Year everyone!
